Bills Fans

Some Bills fans aren’t happy about players kneeling during the national anthem. Wednesday, demonstrators waved flags in front of New Era Field in opposition to player protests during The Star Spangled Banner. They say they’re not boycotting the Bills or the NFL but expressing what the American flag means to them.

Lock Your Dorm Rooms

University of Buffalo Police are recommending students lock their dorm rooms when they leave. The reminder comes just days after police arrested a young man they say committed a string of dorm burglaries in Western New York. Police say 20-year-old Darnell Cleveland committed at least seven burglaries at dorms on three UB campuses and SUNY Buffalo State. Police say in all the robberies the dorm rooms were left unlocked.

Homecoming Weekend

Homecoming weekend is just about here! tonight the Salamanca Warriors will take on the Wakins Glenn/Odessa Montour at 7 pm at Vet’s Park. Tomorrow night is the Salamanca High School Homecoming Dance. It will take place in the gym, from 8 to 11 pm, for those who have met their academic goals. Music willbe by DJ BadWeekend from Salamanca, and the cost is 7 bucks a person.

Salamanca PD Body Cameras

The Salamanca Police Department has some new body cameras headed their way. The Salamanca Press Reports that Wednesday, the Common Council approved the purchase of eight body-worn cameras. The price tag was just under 24 grand. They bought the cameras from WatchGuard of Allen, Texas, would be done under the United States Department of Justice grant for Small Agency Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program.

Salamanca High School Homecoming Week

It’s Salamanca High School Fall Homecoming week this week! Today, you can dress up for Halloween Day, and tomorrow is red and gray day as everyone comes together to show our school spirit. For all sporting events this week, fans are being asked to join in the “Red Out” and support our hometown athletes by wearing red. Tonight, is the annual High School Open House, from 6;30 to 8 pm. You are invited to tour the building, meet teachers and staff and visit the classrooms and facilities.

Fake Facebook Page

Mayor Byron Brown says a fake City of Buffalo Facebook page is dangerous. WIVB reported yesterday that Brown said the parody site has misled some people even though it looks different and has the potential to cause public panic. The page says it’s fake but uses the seal of Buffalo and has fake events like a drug-buyback program. Brown is calling for Facebook to pull the account and city leaders say they’re working to find out who created the account.

Financial Reports

Financial reports filed in the state show Mayor Byron Brown spent 75-dollars for every vote in his successful primary race this year. “The Buffalo News” reports the three Democratic candidates spent a combined one-and-a-half-million-dollars for 26-thousand votes. In Brown’s 2013 primary race, he spent about 79-dollars per vote.

Purge Movie Being Filmed in Buffalo

The newest “Purge” movie is being filmed in Buffalo. The movie “Purge: The Island” began filming on Monday and will reportedly spend more than 20-million-dollars filming exclusively in the area. This is the fourth movie in the “Purge” franchise. Buffalo is going to play the part of Staten Island in the upcoming movie.

Wellsville Properties

Two Wellsville Properties will be sold to the Allegany County Land Bank Corp.. According to the Salamanca Press, the agreement was made on Monday. Alleghany County Legisltators accepted sealed bids of 150 dollars each for the two tax lien foreclosure properties. It is the first purchase for the land bank.

Monroe County man Identified

State police are identifying a Monroe County man killed on the Thruway. Yesterday, troopers say William Ferguson of Hilton got out of his car Saturday night and ran into interstate traffic. Police say they aren’t sure why the 47-year-old darted in front of cars but they’re going to continue to investigate. The driver of the car that hit Ferguson isn’t being publicly identified yet.
