Last Cattauragus County Legislative Session

If you blinked you missed it! During the last meeting of the year the Catt County Legislature took just 20 minutes to run through a 59-resolution agenda. The legislature filed for immediate consideration on twenty-five of the resolution…avoiding the usual committee process, and avoiding meetings before and after Christmas. They will be back at it on January 3 at 4 PM in the Legislative Chambers.

Christmas Cantata choir

There will be two performances this Sunday, the 17th of “The Season of Praise,” which portrays the Christmas story…by the Christmas Cantata choir, featuring residents of the Salamanca and Ellicottville area. The first performance will be in the First United Congregational Church, 134 Broad Street in Salamanca at 3. The second will be in the Holy Name of Mary Church, 22 Jefferson Street in Ellicottville at 7 PM. Proceeds from a free-will offering taken at each production will go to benefit area food pantries in Ellicottville and Salamanca. A reception will follow each performance.

Lots of Money Lots of Projects

Governor Andrew Cuomo played Santa this week in Cattaraugus County by putting $3.8 million in our stocking for nine projects in the region. The Historic Crawford House Hotel on Main Street in Cattaraugus received the most…$1.5 million for extensive restorations that should turn the Historic District into a prosperous commercial district. Legislature Chairman Paula Stockman, R-South Dayton, said the $1.5 million award for the former Crawford House Hotel would help spur other development in the district.
